SHADOW

When we discuss with ourselves, is it possible to have a dialogue with only one personality? We are sure we have such a personality, but it is only pure fiction, and its integrity is even more fictional.

Shadow - the repressed, hidden, dark part of our personality, deeply rooted in the animal past in humanity. Shadow is the concentration of our immoral desires and impulses, forbidden thoughts and passions. Shadow forces us to take actions that, after being done, terrify us. At the same time, Carl Gustav Jung believed that the shadow also plays a positive role, since it contains a powerful energy potential for creativity, spontaneity, and vitality. It is impossible to get rid of the shadow: the more a person alienates from himself the "negative" parts of his personality, the more content he has to suppress and the more powerful the energy of his shadow becomes. Fighting shadow is pointless and dangerous. Only an attentive attitude towards it, research and recognition allow you to direct the energy of the shadow in the right direction.

The portraits featured in this series are the result of overlaying multiple film negative portraits resulting in some images coming to the fore, and others receding into the background; similar processes occur in the subconscious, when an active personality displaces other personalities, partially or completely controlling thoughts and actions.
