Essays by Maxim Dondyuk, Gosha Tykhyi,

Alexander Glyadyelov, and Maks Levin

SOLD OUT

The book is a testimony of four photographers and one journalist. Many around the world are unaware of the Ilovaisk tragedy, and in Ukraine, many have already forgotten due to current events. Max Levin dreamed of this book, but unfortunately, he never saw it, just like many soldiers who perished or went missing.

In 2014, Maxim Dondyuk, Alexander Glyadyelov, Maks Levin, Markiian Lyseiko, Gosha Tykhyi, and Ivan Lubysh-Kirdey were surrounded together by the Ukrainian army and volunteer battalions in Ilovaisk, Donetsk region. The Battle of Ilovaisk became the most tragic and bloody battle of 2014. The Russian army, violating the Ukrainian border, took the city and the Ukrainian army in it into encirclement, and then shot up the green corridor, handing over captured soldiers to the separatists. During the Battle of Ilovaisk over 360 soldiers were killed, about 180 went missing, and more than 500 were wounded.

Unfortunately, the whole world ignored this intervention of Russian troops in Donbas. Ukrainian society and politicians failed to learn from it too and instead of building concrete bunkers and strengthening the borders with Belarus and Crimea, they developed corruption and tourism.

This book is dedicated to Max Levin and all soldiers, who fell and survived, in the Battle of Ilovaisk.
