Biography
Maxim Dondyuk (b.1983, Ukraine) is a photographer and visual artist. He focuses on long-term projects exploring history, memory, conflicts, and their consequences. His practice integrates multiple mediums including photography, video, text, and archival material. For Maxim it’s vital not just to document events but to critically interpret them, posing philosophical questions that challenge existing paradigms and address humanistic themes.
Maxim has been widely awarded numerous recognitions including the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography; he was also named International Photographer of the Year at the Lucie Awards and a finalist of the Prix Pictet Photography Prize. His work has been exhibited internationally, at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, Somerset House in London, MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome, the House of Lucie in Budapest, International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in Geneva, L’Arsenal in Bastia, among others.
